Medicare & Medicaid Hospice Benefits

Medicare Hospice Benefit

Hospice is available as a benefit under Medicare Hospital Insurance [Part A] to beneficiaries with a very limited life expectancy.

Who is Eligible?

Medicare coverage for hospice care is available only if:

The patient is eligible for Medicare Part A

The patient's doctor and hospice medical director certify that the patient is terminally ill with a life expectancy of six months or less

The patient signs a statement choosing hospice care instead of standard Medicare benefits for the terminal illness

The patient receives care from a Medicare-approved hospice program

Medicaid Hospice Benefit

Medicaid coverage for hospice care is available to anyone who meets the eligibility requirement for Arkansas Medicaid and the Oklahoma Medicaid Advantage program.

Private Insurance Benefits

Most private insurance plans cover hospice services. We will be glad to contact your insurance company to determine your degree of coverage.
